Antique Chinese Soapstone Calligraphy Brush Washer W/Monkey C.1900 #2

Description

Here we have an antique Chinese soapstone hand carved brush washing bowl probably used for cleaning calligraphy brushes. It features a chunky monkey leaning over the water bowl. The bowl has a tiny hole in it and we don't know if it was put there intentionally or was naturally occurring. The carving is excellent and nicely detailed. There are no chips or cracks. Please refer to the photos for the best look.
